Tramore

Late Mary Roche

Mary Roche (nee Devlin), late of Manor Lawn, Waterford and formerly of Patrick Street, Tramore, Co. Waterford, passed peacefully in Tramore Nursing Home, on Saturday, July 6. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter, her sisters Gay and Monica and her brother John. Mary will be sadly missed by her heartbroken children John and Gavin, her adoring grandchildren Fergus, Sophie, and Mark and her daughters-in-law Pippa and Janice. A former member of Celtic Bridge Club, she will be forever missed by all her nieces and nephews, relatives, extended family, wonderful neighbours, and many friends. She worked in Londis, Lisduggan for several years. Having reposed at Falconer's Funeral Home, Riverstown, on Wednesday evening, Mary’s Requiem Mass took place on Thursday morning at The Church of the Holy Cross, Tramore, and a private cremation service will take place later.

Tramore Tidy Towns

Thanks so much to Diane Duffin for donating a beautiful plum tree for Strangers Garden (where scarecrows go); our local Council lads will again help us out by planting it. For the last few weeks Tramore Tidy Towns have been working side by side with the residents from Talbot Place, by putting in new bedding plants around six areas. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences ever and they enjoyed every second there, every day while we were there help came in abundance, and the final results made it all worthwhile. At last TTT got to put faces from people behind the scenes, Catherine and Johnny Nolan who organise and supply the flowers all over Tramore for the council and also tidy towns, a massive thank you.

Misery

Theatre Vamps is a local theatre company set up by local actors and writers, Derek Flynn and Nicola Spendlove. Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens

Great to see Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens Tramore listed in the Top 3 Tourist Attractions in Waterford by Hospitality Ireland!

Kudos to all the staff who greet our visitors daily and to our gardeners for maintaining the gardens beautifully. Despite the weather, it has been a busy few months, and we were delighted to welcome visitors from Ireland and around the world once again. Well done, everyone.

Late Josephine (Vera) Ryan

It is with regret we record the passing of Tramore native Josephine “Vera” Ryan (née Doyle) who died on Friday, July 5, at the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore. Late of Tullamore, Co Offaly, she was pre-deceased by her husband Willie, her parents Michael and Rose Doyle and niece Aisling Buckley. Sadly missed by her partner Paschal, siblings Vincent, Marian, Michael, Johnny and Margaret, aunt Bridget Daly, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, and friends. She was buried in Lowertown Cemetery, Mount Bolus, after requiem mass in St. Brigid's Church, Mount Bolus on Monday, July 8.

Tramore AFC

The local soccer clubs recently ended their season for our Juniors, Schoolboys and Schoolgirls, which ironically started and finished in Ozier Park against Villa (Presidents Cup and Woolfson Cup).

The club would like to express a huge thanks to all the volunteers who make all of this possible. From the coaches and managers to the ground staff and committee. The club continues to go from strength to strength and this is down to the work done by everyone associated with the club.

Also, a big thanks to the club’s sponsors who have been invaluable to the club and the teams they have been associated with.

Finally, a massive thanks to the parents and all the supporters who support the club on a regular basis. If anyone would like to get involved in the club, they would only be delighted to have you, just call into the club.

The Junior Player of the Year Awards were also presented recently. The Premier Player of the year was Charlie Binions; Adam Butler received the 1A award, with Michael Condron getting the 3B award. Under 18A went to Sean Fitzgerald, Under 18B to Jamie Clancy, Under 17A to Joshua Roche and Under 17B to Noah Doherty. The Chairman’s Award (John Power) was deservedly presented to Brendan White.
