Congratulations to Touraneena National School pupils, Colin, Kazik, Caleb, Josephine, Sam and Jamie who made their First Holy Communion recently.
We extend our sympathy to the Condon family on the recent passing of Maurice Condon, Coolnabeasoon, Ballinamult. Maurice is predeceased by his wife Nuala, sister Agnes and brother John. We extend our sincere sympathy to his son John, daughter Elaine, grandchildren Ciarán, Jack, Anna Mai and Lucy, his son-in-law Shaun, daughter-in-law Annette, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem mass for Maurice as in St. Laurence’s Church, Fourmilewater, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May Maurice rest in peace.
The annual GAA Déise Draw, which supports both club and county, will have its first draw this year on July 12. The cost of a ticket is €20 for the first and last draw and €15 each for the months of August, September, October and November. You can also buy a six-draw ticket for €100, which will have you entered into each draw. The 1st prize each month is €10,000, 2nd prize €3,000, 3rd prize €2,000, 4th prize €1,000, the 5th to 8th prizes are €500, 9th to 16th prizes are €250. The €3,000 jackpot wasn’t won last Sunday night. The jackpot numbers were 8, 10, 14. The €20 winners were Jamie Gleeson, Marian and Dermot, Sharon Gleeson, Jimmy Coffey and Michelle Walsh. The promoter’s prize was won by Brendan Tobin. Next week’s jackpot is for €3,100.

Well done to Charlotte Duff White, Ballinamult, who became the first student ever to win the Student of the Year Award for both level 5 and level 6 courses in horticulture. The Teagasc FBD Student of the Year awards event took place on Tuesday, May 21. The Awards were presented by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue TD.
