Best Wishes

Best wishes to Paul Power and Siobhán Stafford who get married in Portlaw on Thursday, June 11. Residing in Australia the last number of years, where they have made a great life for themselves with their beautiful daughters Caoimhe and Emily, it was great to have them home to celebrate this day with their friends and family. Paul has won countless honours with Portlaw GAA over the years and has no doubt been one the finest hurlers and footballers to wear the blue and gold of our club. We hope had a great day lads and all the best for the future.

New York U15 Féile Hurling Team

We were thrilled to once again that Portlaw GAA club got to host the talented young hurlers from New York  Wednesday, June 18th. There was a training session and meet and greet and a match against Portlaw with refreshments afterwards in the clubroom. The visitors stayed with host families in Portlaw on Wednesday night and enjoy a fun-filled Thursday together, including a trip to the Wibit in Dunmore.

Big Thanks

Big thanks to St Molleran's GAA for hosting and U8 blitz in Carrick recently with 70 kids playing. Some great skills were on show as the Portlaw GAA club kids played against the hosts, Clonea, St Mary's, Butlerstown and Kilrossanty. Massive effort from all our young hurlers and thanks again to the parents for making the trip. The U8s also had their first run out in their new jerseys and huge thanks was expressed to Cllr Declan Clune for sponsoring the kit for the kids.

Portlaw United FC

Portlaw 6-2 Bohemians:  Our best performance of the season when we welcomed a strong Bohs team to the paddock for what we knew would be a difficult semi final. Bohs struck first with a brilliant free kick before Sam Croke hit a fantastic 11 min, hat-trick to have us 3-1 up. However, Bohs hit back just before half time to make it 3-2. Into the second half and Bohs pushed on but a couple of great saves from Luke Ronayne and last ditch defending for our back four kept us ahead, before we took control of the game again and played some brilliant football for the last 20 mins. Samuel Deevy got our fourth, finishing off a great through ball from Croke. Kevin Lyons set Peter Power away and he didn’t make any mistake when he smashed home our fifth. We kept our best goal until last, when Croke and Deevy combined with a one two, before Deevy crossed for Croke to arrive at pace for his fourth of the day and secure a deserved 6-2 win. We now qualify for the league final where we face Tramore Rangers on Tuesday, July 1, in Ozier Park. It will be a great occasion for all the players.

Portlaw Camogie Club

Two weeks to go until our sponsored walk. The location will be from the Grotto in the Square, Portlaw, and it will take place on June 29, at 11am. The walk is aimed at raising funds for our GAA, LGFA and Camogie Juvenile teams. We ask you to please support the kids who have been given sponsorship cards to fill.
