Touraneena Runners Club members participated in the recent Ballinroad 5K
The results for week ending May 5 were composed of: Jackpot numbers drawn were 6,10,23 and there was no winner. The five €20 winners were Patrick Morrisson, Mags Cliffe, J Lonergan, David Meeney and Rachel Windsor Smith. The promoter’s prize was won by Dunne’s Bar. The results for the week ending May 11, were composed of: Jackpot numbers drawn were 9, 20, 24 and there was again, no winner. The five €20 winners were composed of Tom Power, Kate Tobin, Sean Foley, Ann Carroll and Terri Fitzpatrick. The promoter’s prize was won by Claire Dalton. The jackpot for next week is €2,700.

Well done to all the Sliabh gCua Set Dancing Club dancers who represented the club recently in Fleadh Cheoil na nDéise, in Ballyduff Upper. Our under 12 groups came home with two first places and two third places (both recommended). Our 12-15 groups had two second places and our 15-18 groups had two first places and one third place (recommended). Our Over 18 4-Hand Ladies recorded a second place finish. A huge thank you to Joseph Mannion and the Ballyduff musicians for playing for us. The next round Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan will take place in MTU Cork in July. More information to follow at a later date.
We extend our sympathy to the Power family on the recent passing of Peter Power, Inchindrisla, Kilgobnet. Peter is predeceased by his wife Mary, infant daughter Bridget, parents Richard and Kathleen, brothers John, Tommy, Patrick, Michael, Dick, Nicholas, Gerard and James, sisters Mary, Biddy and Cait. We extend our sincere sympathy to his sons Pat and Peter, daughters Mary and Sinead, brother Joe and his wife Teresa, sister Teresa and her husband Jimmy, brother-in-law Paddy, grandchildren Michael, Mark, John, Sarah, Meadhbh, Aidan , Aisling, David, John and Niamh, great granddaughter Lucie, son-in-law John and daughters in law Trish and Alma, extended family, neighbours and friends. Funeral mass for Peter was in St. Gobnait’s Church, Kilgobinet, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May Peter rest in peace.
The graveyard mass in St. Helena’s Church, The Nire, will take place on Monday, June 2, at 7pm. Mass will be followed by refreshments in the hall and all are welcome to attend.
