Youth A League Result: Portlaw 3 - 2 Tramore

Team sponsor: Pat Kerley Windows and Doors

Our Youths started their season in the A division with a huge performance, resulting in a 3-2 win at home to Tramore.

Samuel Deevy set up Theo Meagher to put us one up midway through the first half and Theo had us 2-0 up at the break with another Deevy assist.

Tramore hit back early in the 2nd half before Sam Croke had us 3-1 up with another Deevy assist.

Tramore got it back to 3-2 and threw everything at us but our defence and Adam in the goal ensured the win in a fiercely competitive second half.

We wish Tramore the best in the FAI Youth Cup quarter final next weekend.

2A League Result: Red Star 1-2 Portlaw

Great opening day win for our 2A team, a 1st minute goal from Davy McGrath had us ahead before Fionn Whelan scored shortly afterwards to double the lead.

We had a couple more chances but Red Star hit back midway through the first half.

The second half was even enough but we held on for a deserved win and positive start for the season.

Portlaw United Premier League Result: Villa 8-0 Portlaw.

Difficult opening fixture for our premier team as we travelled to take on the reigning league champions, who themselves are planning for the move to Tier three of the League of Ireland.

Down a lot of our regular starters, we struggled early to match Villa and conceded within a couple of minutes and found it difficult to get into the game after that.

Despite the scoreline we can take some positives with keeping a clean sheet in the second half as well as the introduction of youth players Adam Geraghty and Kevin Lyons to Premier football.

We go again and our next game is Sunday, March 29, where we host Ballinroad.
