Very Rev. Fr. Donal O’Connor recently celebrated his 100th birthday at the Community Hospital, Dungarvan.
Many congratulations to Very Rev. Fr. Donal O’Connor who recently celebrated his 100th birthday at the Community Hospital, Dungarvan.
Canon O’Connor was born in Modeligo on January 11, and at a young age travelled to Rome to complete his postgraduate studies.
Upon returning to Ireland, Cannon O’Connor worked as a curate and also taught theology in St.John’s College, Waterford and St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, before being appointed Parish Priest of Ardmore and Grange.

Canon O’Connor continued to work as a Parish Priest until the age of 75 years when he retired as a full-time priest and moved to Dungarvan to work as an assistant priest before fully retiring. Canon O’Connor has given a lifetime of service to many communities, who congratulate him on his 100th birthday and wish him the very best of health and happiness for the future.
The jackpot numbers drawn in the most recent draw were 4, 16, 22, and there was no winner. The five x €20 winners were Felim Power, Maeve Butler, JP and Claire Fitzpatrick, John Barron and Pa Hallinan. The promoter’s prize was won by Dunne’s Bar. The jackpot for next week is €500.
Tools were stolen during a burglary which took place last Monday between 2pm and 4pm, at farm sheds in Lickoran, Ballinamult. If you have any information, please contact Dungarvan Gardaí at 058 48600.
Touraneena Thunder are doing very well in the Modeligo Astro Turf League. They are now second on the table behind Athletico Modeligo but have a game in hand. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations to Declan Queally on his fabulous win on ‘I’II Sort That’, in the Grade One Ballymore Novice Hurdle in Naas last week. The six-year- old was trained and ridden by Declan, who produced a fabulous performance to take the top prize.
Tickets are now on sale for the National Club Draw 2026. This is a great fundraiser for the club as all money raised goes directly to the club. All support will be greatly appreciated.
Preparations are well underway for the upcoming three-Act festival play, ‘Da’, by Hugh Leonard, which will be held on Friday night, January 30, in the Community Centre, Ballymacarbry. Tickets are selling out fast so if you want to be part of another great night of drama courtesy of Brideview Drama Tallow, please contact the Ballymacarbry Community Centre (086 0328467), Ballymacarbry Central School (052 6136349) or a member of the Tidy Towns committee as soon as possible. This show will be another sell-out, so don’t miss out. The play promises loads of laughs. Please note that there will be adult themes throughout, so it is not suitable for children.
