The Jubilee Clock (St. Paul’s Church, Lisduggan)

Preparatory works are going ahead for the erecting of our Jubilee Clock.

Fundraising is still continuing and we thank all those who have contributed so generously, both from the private sector — our loyal parishioners — and corporate businesses in the surrounding area.

There will be some fundraising events in the near future, with details available soon.

“This clock will stand as a witness to the hours we’ve shared, the laughter, the labour, and the legacy of fifty years.”

We are now at the stage of gathering resources and raising funds to meet the requirements of bringing the Jubilee Clock Project to completion. Please pick up a copy of the updated information leaflet in the church. Envelopes are also available for those who would like to contribute.

We invite support from all who would like to play a part in bringing this unique landmark into being, in any way great or small. Donations can be made in the church or online through the parish website www.stpaulsbutlerstown.ie.

Please select “Donate to Parish Funds” and under Donor Information / Add a Message, please type “Jubilee Clock.”

For all students involved in the John Paul II Awards, an important announcement for those in or around Waterford City: here is a great option to gain three parish hours with us in April.

We’ll have snacks, games, chat and video content to discuss — on topics relevant to young people today.

Your award leaders have all the information and registration forms. Because of limited space, places are limited to eight participants from each school, so make sure to book early. Deadline is March 25 (no registrations after that date) and you must register through your award leader.

Sessions take place on Thursdays, April 16, 23 and 30 from 4pm to 5:15pm in St John’s Pastoral Centre, John’s Hill, Waterford X91 HW9D. Email youthministry@waterfordlismore.ie.

Crime and Punishment in Waterford

Join historian Cian Manning for a look at some of the more notorious criminal tales from Waterford.

Covering a conman, a career criminal and a serial swindler, the talk explores their lives of crime as well as the impact they had on the locality and on their victims.

Encompassing bogus preaching, petty thieving and pretence at fortune‑telling, Crime and Punishment not only looks at the conviction of these individuals but also how society deemed justice to have been served.

Conmen and Criminals from Urbs Intacta takes place on Tuesday, March 31, at 6.30pm in Ardkeen Library.

Free event — booking required at 051 849755 or ardkeenlibrary@waterfordcouncil.ie.

Waterford FC

Our Walking Football programme continues Thursdays in Butler Community Centre.

Starting at 11am, our Walking Football group welcomes everyone over the age of 50 for an hour of fun and enjoyment, followed by refreshments kindly sponsored by the Waterford Blues Supporters Club.

Contact community@waterfordfc.ie for additional information.
