Fantastic mural unveiled in Portlaw in County Waterford

The new mural located in Portlaw
The village of Portlaw in County Waterford is celebrating after a new mural was unveiled there recently.
One of those involved in the initiative acknowledged the support given to the project, commenting: "A big thank you to Waterford City and County Council and Creative Ireland for adding another fantastic mural to Portlaw."
The latest mural is located on Bridge St, in Portlaw, with kind permission from Abbey Rubber Mouldings.
"The artist designed a mural with symbols representing the buildings of Portlaw's rich industrial heritage," said the spokesperson.
"It has hands cradled at top and bottom of the design with elements 'growing' out of them, which represents the growth of the community, through the booming industry of the area, its workers and strong bond of the people present that built this area and its community," she said.
The design has water running up either side of the mill celebrating the innovative design of the Cotton Mill.
"It has money dotted around the design celebrating the unique currency, 'leather money' used in Portlaw during the Malcomson period," said the spokesperson.
"The colour palette of earthy tones are a node to the landscape and natural products produced within Portlaw," she added.
