Poet Kevin Graham will read from his Gallery Press collections.

The third SpeakEasy event of 2026 will take place on Friday, May 22, at 8pm in Phil Grimes Pub. 

On the night, poet Kevin Graham will read from his Gallery Press collections, and there will be music from local favourite Liam Merriman.

Kevin Graham has had two collections of poetry published with Gallery Press, The Lookout Post (2023) and Time's Guest (2025). His debut collection, The Lookout Post, won the Southword Debut Poetry Collection Award and was shortlisted for the Pollard Prize. Kevin is also the winner of the 2025 London Magazine Poetry Prize for his poem ‘Aspiration’.

Gallery Press will publish his third collection, Daylight Mystery, in September 2026.

Liam Merriman is a well-known folk/acoustic singer in Waterford, who launched his seventh album, 'Seven Deadly Songs', on April 1. He previously performed as a featured musician with the Spokes Literary event, a predecessor to SpeakEasy.

The centrepiece of the event will be the open mic session, when writers are invited to share a poem or a short piece of prose.

SpeakEasy is sponsored by the Arts Office, Waterford City and County Council, with support from The Granville Hotel and Phil Grimes Pub. 

Entry is €5 on the door, cash only.
