Before the highly anticipated Oasis return coming next year, fans can get an early taster of the iconic duo in Waterford’s own Bank Lane this October.
Fans have been in hysterics this week following the unexpected and seemingly impossible reunion of the quarrelling brothers for a UK and Ireland tour. The band will play 14 dates across the UK and Ireland as part of the Oasis Live 25 world tour. Two dates are scheduled in Dublin, with tickets going on presale this week.
In anticipation, a three-hour tribute to the Manchester pair is coming to the Déise this October, courtesy of local band Mad Ferritt.
Mad Ferritt are Ireland’s original Oasis tribute act composed of a group of musicians from the south east of the country.
The aim of the band is to put together a tribute show that mimics the raw power and swagger of an Oasis live show in their hey day.
A representative of the band said: “If you are a fan of the Oasis, 'Live by the Sea' and 'There and Then' live videos, then you are gonna love this. The lads pay particular detail to re-creating the famous Oasis wall of sound which makes them one of the finest Oasis tribute shows around today.”
As well as their full electric show they also have re-created the famous 'Oasis MTV Unlugged' theatre show that consists of a 14-piece band with string and brass section.
Speaking to the Waterford News & Star, Mad Ferritt member, Jamie Murphy said: "I have mixed feelings because I'm an Oasis fan all my life. I think it's great, but I'm also nervous and anxious because I don't think I'm going to be able to get tickets. But I think its brilliant, especially for young fans who never got to see them live."
Mad Ferritt will be performing in Bank Lane in Waterford City on October 12, with doors opening at 7 pm.
