New theatre group for adults founded in Tramore

The Tramore Community Theatre Group has officially been established
A new theatre group directed towards adults has been setup in Tramore, the first of its kind in the area.
The project comes in answer to an abundance of requests from adults in the vicinity of Tramore and Waterford who wanted to know more about theatre and how to create a performance, hence the creation of Tramore’s very own brand new theatre group, the 'Tramore Community Theatre Group’.
The group was established following an open call meeting in Tramore, back in March this year, and is now welcoming new members with an open door policy for all of those aged 17 and over, who are interested in joining a vibrant and dynamic group for both training and performances across a variety of arts genres, from choral performances, to drama, plays and musical theatre.
The new group intends to act as an introduction for those interested in delving into theatre, and to create opportunities for those who wish to explore, investigate and create theatre as a hobby.
A spokesperson added that the Tramore Community Theatre is suitable for anyone who might be interested in taking part in the group’s first show, simply interested in reigniting a former hobby, have been taking part in theatre forever or are completely new to it and want to tick it off the bucket-list.
Speaking on the new group’s announcement, Vicki Graham, from County Waterford's Vicki Graham Stage School, who is one of the Tramore Community Theatre Group's steering members, said: "I’m delighted to be a part of what is certain to be a vibrant local amateur theatre group.
"Tramore and the vicinity of Tramore are abundant with new members in our community, talent, growing talent and unfortunately, until now there was no adult theatre group."
“So we are thrilled to officially make this announcement and let everyone know, that whether they are complete beginners of hold vast experience, they are very welcome," she said.
Vicki added that the group is ideal for those who may be brand new to theatre and are hoping to build experience.
"This is a really exciting opportunity and an ideal way of introducing anyone new to acting and theatre in a fun environment, as well as offering local actors a means of honing their skills and creating new platforms for performances," she said.
"Membership will be fluid and new members are welcome to join in or skip productions as suits their schedules."
The Tramore Community Theatre Group is also announcing its first workshops and have said everyone is welcome to attend to get a feel for the theatre experience. These workshops will take place on Wednesday, May 8th at 7.45 pm at The Vicki Graham Stage School in the Riverstown Business Park.
