Cinematic classics from RTE Concert Orchestra coming to Waterford

The RTÉ Concert Orchestra, under the baton of Polish conductor Anna Sułkowska-Migoń will perform an evening of cinematic soundtracks next month at SETU Arena.
The winner of the prestigious La Maestra competition in Paris (2022), Sułkowska-Migoń returns to join the RTÉ CO following her successful 'Elements of Genius' concert in October 2023.
The evening will include stunning performances of theatrical string sensations new and old.
The performance will also include orchestral suites showcasing the breadth of John Williams’s career, from the majestic theme from 'Jurassic Park' (1993), to the iconic Harry Potter soundtrack.
John Barry’s soundtrack to 'The Living Daylights', the 1987 James Bond film, will bring Barry’s signature emotive strings to the beloved Bond theme, creating a menacing and moving suite.
Meanwhile the soundtrack to 'Dances with Wolves' (1990), a winner of the Academy Award for Best Original Score, promises to sweep through beautiful phrasing, all the while painting landscapes of the prairie.
Also playing will be music from 1990 film, 'Cinema Paradiso', which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
Ennio Morricone’s unforgettable soundtrack from the film has become famous globally.
The Orchestra will also pay homage to classical, haunting sorrow with Barber’s, 'Adagio for Strings', as heard in 'The Elephant Man' (1980), 'Platoon' (1986), 'Amélie' (2001) and more.
From Prokofiev’s, 'Romeo & Juliet', and Hildur Gudnadottir’s ominous 'Joker' soundtrack, filled with dark, droning cello, the orchestra will cover the length of breath of cinema score classics, from years gone by all the way to the modern day.
The event takes place on November 13, and are tickets available at setuarena.ie
