Waterford Schoolgirls & Women’s roundup

The Waterford Crystal U14C League team that made club history this week as they won their first Schoolgirl League title after they beat Piltown 5-0 in Crystal Park.
Park Rangers reached their first U19 Munster Cup Final after they defeated Mooncoin Celtic 4-2 in a sun drenched Glen on Sunday afternoon. It was Mooncoin however who got off to a dream start when Sommer Grant scored after just five minutes to put her side ahead. Rangers regrouped and within three minutes they had equalised when Breanne Hutchinson applied the finish and within 60 seconds they were ahead when Grace Schultz scored the first of her two goals. Mooncoin were level on 26 minutes when Emily Blackmore was on hand to score. The tie ebbed and flowed until the seventy second minute when Ruby Doherty scored to restore Rangers’ lead. Rangers made sure of the tie when Schultz took possession just inside the Mooncoin half and ran straight at the Mooncoin defence before scoring with a delightful finish that beat Hassett in the goal.
In the other semi it was a repeat of last year’s final but on this occasion there was heartbreak for Bohs as a wonder goal nine minutes from time from Chloe Shorley gave Holycross the win.
It was a share of the spoils for the Waterford League in their second group match. Limerick took the lead Melanie Higgins got on the end of Rebecca Horgan's pass. Waterford got back on level terms through an own goal in the first-half but Higgins notched her second of the match to put her side back in front. Waterford weren't to be beaten however and Shauna Wall got the all-important equaliser when she got on the end of a corner to find the net.
The three sides chasing the title all won midweek to keep the race at the top very tight. Leaders Bohs visited Park Rangers and came away with a 3-0 win.
Mooncoin stay second but with a game in hand after they came from behind to defeat Villa 3-2 at Suir Crescent. Carrick stay in touch after they left Graun Park with the points after defeating their hosts.
Carrick stay top of the table after a high scoring battle against neighbours Piltown. Clodagh Power put Carrick ahead on eleven minutes and she scored her second on the half hour mark from the penalty spot. Jodie Roche made it 3-0 on thirty six minutes. Katelyn Moore pulled a goal back two minutes later and when Maia Stokes made it 3-2 on sixty six minutes it made for a nervy ending for the hosts. Carrick held on to claim three important points but for Piltown it was their second defeat in the space of three days. Earlier in the week Piltown had entertained Tramore and settled quickly to go two goals up through a double from Ruby Norris. However Tramore stormed back and despite missing a penalty they scored four times through Ali Lyons, Zoe Sullivan and a Frances McCann brace.
Tramore continued their good run when the defeated Villa at Connors Park on Sunday 5-2. McCann again claimed a double strike, with O Sullivan also on target again. Mia Flanagan and Ruby Starmer rounded off the scoring for the Seagulls. Bohs remain unbeaten after they recorded their seventh win of the season after a rousing comeback at the death against Park Rangers. Rangers took the lead through Annabelle Robinson and they doubled their lead just before half time. With just nine minutes left Bohs pressure paid off when Freya O Keeffe scored and with four minutes remaining Emily O Reilly scored a spectacular long range goal to put the sides level. Bohs pushed on for the winner and in the first minute of injury time Nicole McCarthy's through ball found Brooke Freeman who fired home to seal the win for Bohs.
In the B League Dungarvan recorded their second successive win after a 5-3 win over Ballyduff. Ella Casey scored a hat trick for the Old Borough side with Alanna Kirwan and Ciara Fennell also on the scoresheet. Kayleigh O Neill was once more on the scoresheet as she claimed a hat trick for her side.
It was quite a week for Ballinroad's Ava Drummey in the league as she scored her sides goal in the western derby against Dungarvan and followed that up with a hat trick five days later against Bohs in Ben Wadding Park. Cappoquin Railway stay second after they defeated Tramore 1-0.

Cystal have had a brilliant season that saw them remain unbeaten a fantastic achievement. Aoibhinn Power, Vittoria Pascolini, Millie Curan and Daisy Hannon shared the goals on a night of celebration for the league winners.
Villa moved one step closer to the title after a hard fought win in Mooncoin which leaves them knowing that if they beat Tramore in their final game they will be crowned champions. Southend were defeated 3-1 by Ballyduff with Darcy Condron scoring.
League winners Kilmacthomas were too strong for Dungarvan at Alaska Park. Doubles from Lola Curran and Winnah Shanahan along with one from Alice Comerford saw Kilmac progress to the next round.
