Waterford's record championship scorer Stephen Bennett faces three or four months on the sidelines according to manager Peter Queally. The 2020 All Star came off with a knee injury in the first half of the Déise's loss to Cork at Walsh Park but it isn't the dreaded cruciate ligament.

"He'll be out for about three or four months. It's not a cruciate ligament which we feared at the time and the medical team feared. Hopefully in three or four months, we'll see Stephen in club action with Ballysaggart. Hopefully, we'll see him back in a Waterford jersey next year as well."

Bennett was in All Star form prior to his latest injury setback with a return of 4-24 in three games. 3-12 against Clare in Cusack Park earned him the Man of the Match award. He followed that up with 1-10 in the draw with Tipperary a week later. The PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month award for April also came his way.
