G Force Taekwon-Do celebrated for recent European success

Local Taekwon-Do group, G-Force were recognised at a Mayoral Reception last week for their recent success in representing Ireland at the European Championships of Taekwon-Do held in Wales last July.

The team based in Kilcohan Industrial Estate brought home a wildly impressive eleven medals during the championships.

During the reception, Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr Jason Murphy, commended the club for their “dedication, skill and sportsmanship”.

Congratulating individual team members for their achievements, Cllr Murphy said:

“Diego Garduno, who secured a gold medal in Team Patterns and a silver medal in Team Sparring. Diego, your discipline, and teamwork have shone brightly and inspired us all.

“Ellen Roche, who is a beacon of excellence, bringing home not one but two gold medals in Team Sparring and Special Technique, as well as two silver medals in Team Patterns and Individual Sparring, and a bronze medal in Individual Patterns. Ellen, your versatility, and perseverance are truly remarkable.

“Santiago Garduno, whose dedication earned him a silver medal in Individual Patterns and a bronze medal in Individual Sparring. Santiago, your achievements show us the power of focus and commitment.

“Daniel Mrozik, who brought home bronze medals in both Individual Patterns and Individual Sparring. Daniel, your hard work, and determination are evident in your well-deserved success.

The Mayor also congratulated the club’s coaches, Felipe Garduno and Rodrigo Garduno, who were pivotal figures behind the clubs’ ongoing success.

Cllr Murphy further added that the club have represented not only Waterford city and county, but the entire country in phenomenal fashion:

“You have demonstrated the values that Taekwondo instils respect, perseverance, and integrity. You have shown that with dedication and teamwork, excellence can be achieved, and you have inspired all of us in Waterford to aim higher and dream bigger.

“You have represented not only yourselves but also our city and county with distinction. Waterford is immensely proud to have ambassadors like you showcasing the talent and determination of our community on national and international stages.

“As mayor, it is my honour to celebrate your success today. But beyond today, please know that Waterford will continue to stand behind you in your future endeavours, cheering you on as you reach new heights.”
