Pride of the Déise 2024: Saxophones, stripping clowns and stunts galore

Lash Out is a queer run drag show and club night, organised by local drag performers Orchid, Queenn Marie and Una Live, who spoke to the Waterford News & Star.
"This show has been a labour of love for all three of us, and we are so proud to be able to host Lash Out with Pride of the Déise this year."
"We wanted to fill a gap in Waterford nightlife with this event, as there is a real lack of spaces in Waterford City, not to mention the lack of safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ people in the city's nightclub scene. "

"This was another factor that led to us working on this particular club night."
Not only is LashOut a variety drag/cabaret show, say the trio, it's also a nightclub.
"We wanted to bring a different type of music to the nightlife scene in Waterford, with our resident DJ ROIBÍ who describes her style as a “blend of underground queer club trax, Baile funk, jungle and jersey club.”

Ireland has an incredible DJ scene, agreed the three organisers who wanted to include some of that homegrown talent into the nightclub.
"Even though we describe the event as a drag show, we feature many different types of performances, including Burlesque, Circus, and live vocals. We always want to include variety in both acts and performers. "
Performances at the last show included live saxophone playing, a stripping clown, live singing, Burlesque performances, stunts, big costumes, small costumes, hair whipping, and so much more.

The next Lash Out will take place in The Reg nightclub, on Friday May 31st as part of the Pride of the Déise festival. For more up to date news on this event, and any future events, you can find us on instagram @lash.out.nights or scan the QR code below.
