Ireland’s No.1 taxi app, FREENOW, has added Waterford Taxis to its roster of taxi despatchers as it continues to strengthen its offering to drivers and passengers across Ireland.

The new partnership will see FREENOW and Waterford Taxis collaborate closely to offer FREENOW passengers the largest fleet of taxis in the Déise city.

Waterford Taxi drivers will have the advantage of access to a much wider customer base and get access to more jobs via the FREENOW app. For passengers in the region the partnership will mean they will have access to the largest fleet of taxis in Waterford, either by booking through the existing Waterford phone line or via the FREENOW app.

The collaborative arrangement comes in the wake of successful partnerships with taxi dispatchers in Kildare and Kilkenny.

Waterford Taxis is a 24/7 phone operator based in Waterford and through the FREENOW app the aim is to combine transport offerings to enhance the overall taxi service for people in the region.

As a result of the partnership, passengers will now have the option of booking a taxi directly via the FREENOW app or through the Waterford Taxis phone line 051 331033.

As always, with the FREENOW app, passengers will be able to know approximately how much their journey will cost and when the driver will arrive. They will also have access to a range of services, including getting a taxi quicker via the ‘Taxi Priority’, and being able to book a taxi in advance via the 'Prebook' function.

Passengers will also be able to get a specific vehicle such as 6, 7 or 8-seater taxi van, a wheelchair-accessible or an electric (EV) vehicle. People will also be able to make their payments via Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, debit card or in cash.

Waterford Taxis was established in June 2016, by Seamus Hennessy and Richard Kelly. The latter remains a taxi driver at the business to this day. As a result of the new partnership, drivers will benefit from accessing a much wider passenger base, which means more jobs, and taking advantage of the technology and tools offered by FREENOW and driver partner incentives and initiatives.

Discussing the partnership, Sinead Coady, Co-Owner at Waterford Taxis, said: “We are recognised in the region for providing a reliable and convenient taxi service for the local community and this is an exciting new development for our business. By partnering with Ireland’s no.1 taxi app, FREENOW, we will be joining efforts to deliver an even better service to drivers and passengers who live in or visit the Waterford area.”

Charlie Gleeson, General Manager of FREENOW Ireland, added: “We have been working closely with the Waterford Taxi team and we are delighted to announce our partnership which will strengthen our taxi offer to passengers in Waterford while ensuring driver partners can benefit from using the FREENOW app to get access to more jobs and improve their earnings."

“This partnership follows other successful partnerships with taxi dispatchers, and we will look at other opportunities for collaboration with local dispatchers as we continue to expand and enhance our offer to drivers and passengers across the country," said Mr Gleeson.
