Dungarvan College open day will take place on March 11.

Dungarvan College will hold an open day on Wednesday, March 11, from 1.30pm to 4pm. 

The college offers a wide range of courses which are suitable for both Leaving Certificate students and adults hoping to upskill or change their career options.

There is no CAO points requirement for entry to courses and it offers a cost effective qualification: Course Fee €100.

Courses on offer for September 2026 include:

Accounting Technician; Art Portfolio; Beauty Therapy; Business Administration; SETU Bachelor of Business; Sports Science; Community Health Services - Special Needs Assistant; General Studies; General Studies – Social Option; Healthcare Support; Pharmacy Assistant; Nursing Studies; Sport, Exercise and Coaching, and Engineering.

Courses for Leaving Certificate students 

A course offers Leaving Certificate students the option to undertake an area of study in order to see if they are interested in that option as a career. Entry to courses is based on an interview and is not based on CAO points. On successful completion of the course the graduate has both the option of either progression to further college courses or look for employment.

Graduates interested in further college studies also have the option of gaining up to 390 CAO points or even using a college progression route and gaining access to specified courses with an entry requirement of CAO points in excess of 390 CAO points.

Graduates of our courses have been able to access college courses in the past including Nursing, Early Childhood Studies, Law, Commerce, Accounting, Sports Studies & Physical Education, Art & Design, Engineering, Psychology, Science and Social Science.

SETU Business Degree

South East Technological University (SETU) and Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB) are offering students the opportunity to start their SETU Business degree studies in Dungarvan College without any requirement for a CAO application. This course option allows you to start your SETU Business degree studies locally and the great news is there is no course costs in year one and students may even qualify for a SUSI maintenance grant.

The first year of the programme will provide you with a foundation in business, allowing you time and access to expert guidance advice, to explore future career choices open to you in the different specialism streams. On successful completion of year one of the Business degree you will automatically qualify for progression to SETU Waterford for year two of their degree programme.

In this three-year course, you will complete the first year in Dungarvan College, followed by another two years in SETU’s Waterford campus.

Courses for Adults

Our courses are suitable for adults of all ages and nationalities. Many students undertake a course in order to gain a qualification in order to improve their current job opportunities and sometimes adults undertake a course in order to change their career options. Our courses offer small class groups sizes and expert tuition which allows us to support the student in the pursuit of their educational goal.

If a person is on social welfare payments prior to the course they may qualify for either Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) or Vocational Training and Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) which may allow you to maintain your weekly social welfare payments and benefits.

Students over 21 years of age and on social welfare for more than 6 months by September 2025 may qualify for a VTOS course place which would allow them to undertake a course at no expense and the student may even be entitled to additional benefits such as free books and travel expenses.
