Young cyclist dies in Waterford road accident
A juvenile male pedal cyclist was fatally injured.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Ballygalane, Lismore, Co. Waterford on Tuesday, June 16.
The collision involved a parked lorry and a pedal cyclist and occurred shortly after 11:00am.
A juvenile male pedal cyclist was fatally injured and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified.
The male driver of the lorry was uninjured. The road was closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward. Road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N72 between Lismore and Cappoquin, Co. Waterford, on Tuesday morning, June 16, between 10.30am and 11.15am, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
