A Waterford librarian has received the title of Staff Champion in this year’s Library Association of Ireland awards.
Executive Librarian Tracy McEneaney of Ardkeen Library was named Staff Champion for 2025.
Waterford City and County Libraries took to social media to congratulate their colleague.
“Tracy's enthusiasm for libraries and reading is obvious to anyone who has met her or heard her on national and local radio promoting libraries and books.
Tracy's creativity and dedication to community make her a wonderful and inspiring colleague, manager and librarian,” Waterford City and County Libraries wrote in a social media post.
The Library Association of Ireland said in the announcement that there were some great nominees this year.
They said Tracy was most deserving of a “packed field”.
“A truly inspiring and transformational Library colleague who goes above and beyond!” they said.
Tracy is a well-known figure for Déise readers who is known for her work promoting books through radio and social media.
Tracy uses her TikTok account to recommend books and encourage reading, as well as promoting libraries and the beautiful scenery of Tramore, where she is a member of the Tidy Towns.
Tramore Tidy Towns posted on social media: “Well done to TidyTowns Tracy, we are truly delighted for her, well done.
“That's our girl, well done and congratulations.”
