Woman charged with money laundering asked to represent herself
The matter was put back until the 3rd September
Twenty-two-year-old Naomi Orladayo Atologun asked Judge Staunton if she could represent herself this week, at Waterford’s District Court.
Ms Atologun of 85 Líos an Uisce, Merlin Park, Galway, is charged with an alleged money laundering offence.
According to court documents, the alleged incident occurred in 2 Fán Glas, Kilmeaden, Waterford.
Judge Staunton asked solicitor Ken Cunningham to represent her but due to an ongoing strike, he told her he would give her his card.
He replied to Ms Atologun’s request to represent herself by saying: “You can, but it’s a serious enough matter.”
The matter was put back until September 3.
“You can think about it and decide then,” Judge Staunton told the woman.
