A 42-year-old woman appeared in Waterford Circuit Court last week in connection with drug dealing charges.

On two separate occasions her home was searched by gardaí, leading to the seizure of large amounts of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

On October 2, 2021, the first search warrant was issued for Rachel Power’s residence at 31 Marquee Drive, Dungarvan.

Cocaine was found in clear tubs, in a handbag and in individual deal bags.

Two phones with messages evidencing drug dealing were also seized.

The total quantity of cocaine seized was 49.5 grams, amounting to a value of €3,466.

Power was arrested and made full admissions.

A second search was carried out some years later, in July of 2024.

Cocaine to the value of €1,008 was found during this search.

Seven individual deals of cocaine were found in a black sock, and a further seven were found in a Kinder Egg container.

Weighing scales, wrappings and benzocaine were also found.

Power was once again obtained and charged.

Defence counsel for the accused, Sarah-Jane Comerford BL, said that Power entered early guilty pleas. She had accrued drug debts and had suffered serious drug addiction difficulties.

Judge Eugene O’Kelly said that the woman “brazenly continued to deal with drugs” even after the first search in 2021.

She received suspended sentences on the condition that she engages with drug services for a period of two years.
