Waterford Sports Partnership is to host the county's first Walking Week with a series of events.

The six-event programme begins on Monday, April 7 and ends on Sunday, April 13.

The first event will be a social walk and Pétanque taster led by the Waterford Pétanque Club in the People's Park on Monday at 1.30pm.

On Tuesday, Mediaforce is hosting an online webinar on hillwalking safety tips.

On Wednesday, The Waterford Archaeological and Historical Society will take you on a journey ‘From the Victorians to the Vikings with heritage along the Waterford Greenway in Woodstown and Carriganore.

That event will start at the SETU Arena Greenway carpark at 1pm.

Also, at the SETU Arena on Thursday at 11am, there will be a free introduction to Fitsticks or Activator Pole Walking.

Those interested in the maritime heritage can take a 7km Coastal Walk with Tides and Tales, in Dunmore East, on Friday.

The final event will be 'A Hill Skills Day', on Saturday at 10am.

Most events have a fee and must be booked in advance.
