It was Councillor Conor McGuinness that expressed frustration around the Government's lack of urgency, communication and accountability to address the serious road traffic collisions on what has been "regarded as the most dangerous stretch of national primary route in the State", the N25.

"I'm very angry about this," said Cllr McGuinness.

He continued: "Consistently over the last year and a half in this chamber, and in my district chamber in Dungarvan, I've been raising the issue of the N25. I've been asking, and this Council has asked, and your predecessors have asked on behalf of this Council, for the Minister for Transport and for the senior officials to come and meet us, or to receive a cross party delegation from this Council, to discuss the N25.

"It's just not good enough at this point. We're being ignored. We, all of us here in this room, are being ignored," added Cllr McGuinness.

Cllr McGuinness' frustrations were mirrored by the Executive.

"We're all on the same page as yourself," Mr Gabriel Hynes responded.

"From Kilmeaden to Midleton it's an undivided road, and with an undivided road, the safety is a lot less than a divided road.

"I have raised it, and we as an Executive have raised it with TII, but certainly we can issue another letter to the Minister to have this road included in the next national development plan," he said.
