On Friday, August 23, over 60,000 students received their Leaving Cert results.

In Waterford, the students over at Abbey Community College made their school proud by scoring great results, many of them exceeding 600 points.

Principal Michelle Jefford and Deputy Principal Helen O'Connor were full of praise for the Leaving students, and warmly congratulated them on their achievement.

According to Helen: "We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our students, and we would like to take this moment to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of them on this special occasion.

"These results mark a significant milestone for our students, their families, and the primary schools they represent, all of whom have provided unwavering support during their time at Abbey Community College and have been essential contributors to our thriving school community.

"We would like to thank all the staff of Abbey Community College, teaching and non-teaching for their dedication and support to the class of 2024."

She continued: "An advantage of our large school is the ability to offer an extensive range of subjects for our students in senior cycle. This diverse selection enables our students to pursue university and college courses, as well as enter trades and transition directly into the workforce.

"An exceptional group of students consistently excels beyond the national academic averages. This year, we are proud to have many students who achieved scores exceeding 600 points in their Leaving Certificate, along with a significant rise in the percentage of students scoring over 500 points.

"Additionally, our Leaving Certificate Applied results are at the highest end of the national range.

Deputy O'Connor added: "We extend our best wishes to all our students as they eagerly await their CAO offers.

"Our Support Team and Guidance Counsellors have been in constant contact with our students and will be there supporting them throughout the whole CAO process and beyond if necessary."
