Tramore man Luke O’Mahony was married on September 13 in Stockholm, Sweden to his lovely wife, Nike O’Mahony.
The couple met online four and a half years ago when Luke moved to Sweden for work.
They hit it off immediately but due to a miscommunication, they lost contact.
Nike said, “The only thing I knew about him to be able to try to find him was that his first name was Luke, he was from Ireland and that he now lived in a city outside of Stockholm. I obviously could not find him.”

Meanwhile, Luke searched online looking for a woman named Nike but all that came up were advertisements for the sports clothing brand.
Both of them thought they would never meet again.
However, a few months later they both re-downloaded the dating app and immediately found each other again. They exchanged numbers to make sure they wouldn’t lose each other again.
Since then, a day hasn’t gone by where they haven’t talked.
They communicated exclusively online for a few months. They were both falling in love although neither of them would admit it.

Their first in person meeting was nerve-wracking for both of them.
Nike said, “Either we were going to meet the person of our lives. The one. Or we could have been wrong all this time, and that the good banter and spark we had going was going to feel different in real life and take an end.”
Thankfully, Nike said, “Meeting each other felt like home.”
When they walked out of the bar, they walked out hand in hand. Exactly one year from that day, their son, Zed, was born.
The wedding ceremony was held in Stockholm's City Hall.

This is a famous landmark of Stockholm and is where the Nobel Prize ceremony is held.
The wedding was Las Vegas Rock n Roll themed.
Nike said it was “elegant and classic but still modern with a little crazy and colourful touch to suit”.
The wedding was attended by Luke’s parents, Nicola and Gary, Nike’s parents, Bodil and Claes, siblings and the couple’s three children, Bonnie, Zed and Cillian.
The couple would like to give a special thanks to the family members who travelled all the way from Ireland to attend the special day.

The day was a long time coming, Nike said.
She added, “Feels unreal in a way since we actually were joking about getting married even before we met.”
The couple hopes to travel to Tramore soon so their children can meet their cousins.
