Waterford was among the Supervalu stores hit by a cyberattack on refrigeration systems, the Irish Times has reported.

As a precaution, Supervalu removed chilled and frozen products from shelves in 13 stores on Monday morning.

Other locations impacted are reported as Lucan, Blanchardstown and Bray.

Supervalu owner Musgraves confirmed to the Irish Times that there was a cyber attack but that it only affected one model.

The attack on Supervalu follows a spate of cyberattacks on European stores over the past 24 hours.

However, it is not clear if this incident is related and the investigation is ongoing.
