Two students from De La Salle College Waterford have been awarded national recognition by the TechnoTeachers Association for obtaining Joint 1st Place in Design & Communication Graphics (Higher Level) in the Leaving Certificate Examinations 2024.

Delvin Louis and Sam McLoughlin were recently honoured by the TechnoTeachers Association, the national subject association for technology-related disciplines, which annually recognises the top-performing students in State Examinations.

This level of achievement is rare and having two students from the same class receive this award is highly unusual and a source of immense pride for the school community.

A presentation ceremony took place on Saturday morning in the Br. Stephen Deignan Library, where the students were presented with their certificates by Principal Mr. Tom Bourke, in the presence of their families and Mr. Tim Brosnan, their DCG teacher.

Both students are now studying highly competitive courses at university level. Delvin is studying Aeronautical Engineering, while Sam is pursuing Immersive Software Engineering.

The school principal praised the students for their outstanding commitment, character, and work ethic during their time in De La Salle.

He also acknowledged the vital role of their teacher, Mr. Tim Brosnan, in supporting their journey.

Mr. Brosnan’s dedication to his students, his consistent pursuit of excellence, his engaging and student-centred approach to teaching have been recognised nationally on previous occasions and this latest accolade reflects the strength of his guidance.

The TechnoTeachers Association encourages schools to celebrate such successes, to raise the profile of STEM-related subjects and to highlight the expertise and dedication of teachers and students alike.

The recognition of the students showcases the high standard of teaching within De La Salle.
