Families were out enjoying the parade in Cappoquin.

West Waterford councillor Donnchadh Mulcahy has praised the St Patrick’s Day parade as “a fantastic showcase of community spirit and pride in Cappoquin”.

The councillor said the streets were filled with colour and the standard of floats and displays was exceptional.

Local groups, schools and businesses took part in the parade, which started on 12:30 on March 17.

“Days like this remind us of the strength of our communities here in West Waterford and the importance of coming together to celebrate our heritage,” said Cllr Mulcahy.

Cllr Mulcahy acknowledged the continued growth of the parade and paid tribute to the committee, volunteers, stewards and all those who make the parade possible.

He said the parade “goes from strength to strength each year and continues to attract great support from across the region,” and said the event highlights the “importance of community-led events in bringing people together and fostering a strong sense of local identity”.
