Local students recently debuted their latest documentary at Waterford Integration Centre.

The documentary is one of two that were produced this year by The Advanced Cert in Audio-Visual Media students from Waterford College of Further Education.
Titled 'Long Way Home', it explores the human experience of immigration through the medium of film. The story is told through the immediacy of first-person accounts and is unique because of the participatory material integrated by the production team.
The students spent the year learning film techniques, shot framing, scriptwriting, journalism, music scoring, and lighting so that they could independently produce content worthy of professional recognition.

Described as ‘powerful and moving’, the film was enthusiastically received by the audience and is the beginning of a more formalised link between WCFE film students and the Waterford Integration Centre.
The event was attended by Anne Nolan, Programme Lead, and staff and clients of Waterford Integration Services, local media, and award winning filmmaker Michelle Daly, the group's film teacher at WCFE.
