The pupils in a County Waterford primary school are among the fittest in the country.

Our Lady of Mercy Primary School reached the grand final of this year's Fyffes Fittest School competition.

The final took place in Athlone just before the summer break.

The Waterford pupils showcased to perfection that they're not just an academically talented group but also supremely fit as they finished runners-up.

What made their achievement all the more remarkable was the fact that schools from all over Ireland - north and south - entered.
