Dunmore East RNLI volunteer crew member Raina Freiberg attended the first RNLI Women in Lifesaving event in Ireland, held at RNLI HQ in Swords.

A volunteer member of the RNLI in County Waterford attended an historic event recently specifically aimed at women.

Dunmore East RNLI volunteer crew member, Raina Freiberg, attended the first RNLI Women in Lifesaving event in Ireland, which was held at RNLI HQ, in Swords.

In an online post a spokesperson for the Dunmore East branch said the event brought together people passionate about lifesaving and leadership.

Four guest speakers also shared the stories of their respective journeys giving great insight and perspective to those attending.

The speakers included: Dr Lisa Neligan - GP Clinical Lead and Women’s Health Specialist, Kingsbridge Private Healthcare Group; Debbie Hally - Winchman Advanced Paramedic, Irish Coast Guard Helicopter R117 (Based in Waterford); Lyndsey Davey - Firefighter Paramedic and All-Ireland winning footballer, and Marie Gleeson - Leadership Consultant, Coach and former Irish Naval Captain.

"Events like this are a great reminder of what RNLI volunteering is all about," noted the spokesperson in the online post.

"Thanks to all those who helped make this days happen," he added.
