Two post offices in Waterford were honoured at this year’s an Post Awards.
Postmistress at Ferrybank Post Office, Linda Kennedy, accepted the award for Community Focus in 2026.
The Community Focus category was one of three national awards presented at the event and recognises the work of more than 800 postmaster-run offices.
Ena O’Brien from Lismore Post Office was honoured for 66 years of service to the local community.
Chief Executive of An Post Fergal Leamy said he had been struck by the enormous amount of things done in the post office and the role post offices and Postmasters played in the community.
“The operational prowess of people behind the counter is extraordinary. I have nothing but growing admiration for what post offices do and the role in the community that you play,” said Mr Leamy.
Managing Director of An Post Retail Debbie Byrne presented Ena O’Brien with the award said it was a privilege to celebrate her long service.
“They are part of the fabric of our society, bringing warmth, trusted support and essential services to generations of local families,” she said.
