This weekend will see the annual Waterford Mayoral Ball take place in the city and there is great excitement ahead of the event.

The event was launched in December by Mayor of Waterford City & County, Cllr Jason Murphy, along with Metropolitan Mayor, Cllr Joe Kelly, and there has been great anticipation in the interim as people ready themselves for what is one of the most prestigious social events of the year.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 17, at the Tower Hotel and it will be held in support of a number of deserving local charities including: The Red Cross (Waterford City and Portlaw area); Little Sisters of the Poor; Autism Friendly Waterford and West Waterford Rapid Response Vehicle.

At the launch Mayor Murphy expressed his excitement for the event: "We are proud to once again host the Mayor's Ball, a special evening to bring our community together and support these incredible local charities that provide vital services across Waterford."

"We encourage everyone to join us in making this year’s event a huge success," he said.

Metropolitan Mayor, Cllr. Joe Kelly, added at the time: “The Mayor’s Ball has become one of the most anticipated events on Waterford’s social calendar, and we are delighted to be able to contribute to the important causes that will benefit from this year’s proceeds."

The two Mayors also thanked the sponsors of the event and said it would not be possible without them. The sponsors include Heineken and the Tower Hotel, who support it every year, and this year’s main sponsor, the Sayvale Group. The wine sponsor for the event is JP O’Donohoe & Co.
