Waterford Courthouse.

A man before Waterford District Court told the judge that the charges against him were “Mickey Mouse” and that he is up “on worse”.

Marcus O’Neill (35), of FT 3 Bridge Street, Waterford, was before Judge John Cheatle at Waterford District Court charged with threatening and abusive behaviour and being intoxicated in a public place on August 3, 2024.

The matter was only in for mention and no evidence was heard.

However, Mr O’Neill, who appeared by video link, repeatedly disrupted the short proceedings.

“You can charge me if you want. I’m here on worse charges to be fair so,” said Mr O’Neill.

Mr O'Neill accused gardaí of assaulting him and “f**king up” his arm and said it was the officers who should be charged.

Acting for the defendant, solicitor Derek Connors told his client he would contact him later, but Mr O’Neill continued to disrupt the court.

“What’s with these Mickey Mouse charges. Like, I was assaulted first,” continued the defendant.

Judge Cheatle asked that the feed be disconnected.
