Waterford GAA club planning for new community centre and sports hub

The construction of a local community centre and sports hub is being planned in Newtown, Kilmacthomas.
The planning application was submitted this week by James Dunphy (Chairman) on behalf of Newtown/Ballydurn GAA Club.
Planned is the construction of a community centre and sports hub that will include an open plan multi-purpose function room, kitchenette, store, gym and viewing gallery overlooking the pitch.
Construction of a new ball wall with perimeter fencing with an all-weather astroturf infill associated area is also in the works, as is associated flood lighting, together with all ancillary and associated site works.
Alterations to the bathroom facilities of the existing clubhouse building and construction of a communal entrance linking the existing and proposed buildings are also part of the plans.
Reconfiguration of the existing car park layout is also planned, as is development of an overspill car park to be accessed by a pedestrian walkway from the existing carpark.
A decision is expected on the application by March 6.
