Waterford Council rates income for 2023 was €36m
The income from rates amounted to €36m in 2023
Income from rates to Waterford City & County Council for 2023 amounted to €36m and arrears was reduced by €1m.
According to an auditor's report presented to the elected members in December, the combined value of the vacant property adjustment and write-offs also fell during the same period.
The auditors noted that the good performance was mainly due to "intensive engagement with customers and procedures focused on collection".
Rates represents 20 per cent of revenue income and the collection yield of 98 per cent remains one of the highest in the country.
