Waterford City Fire Service crews complete training on River Suir Bridge

Waterford City Fire Service crews recently completed refresher training in rope rescue skills on the River Suir Bridge.

The additional training in rope rescue will help crews attend to vehicle accidents on steep embankments, rescue people stranded on cliffs, bridges or tall structures, and assist individuals trapped in difficult to reach locations like riversides or construction sites.

A spokesperson from Waterford City Fire Service said: “Keeping our skills sharp ensures we’re ready to respond to emergencies where heights, slopes, or difficult terrain are involved.

"Exercises like this help us stay prepared and confident, ensuring that no matter the situation, we can respond efficiently and keep our community safe.”
