Waterford artist recognised at national awards

Local artist Catherine Barron from Dungarvan, Co. Waterford was awarded recently in the 'Ready to Start' self-portrait awards 2025, in honour of Stillorgan-born artist Sir William Orpen.

Catherine, won the third place prize of €500, which was sponsored by Nimble Fingers, Stillorgan.

The awards took place in the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan where the Orpen sculpture is situated. The 11ft tall bronze sculpture was created by Rowan Gillespie and unveiled in 2018 by Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones.
