The judicial review into Ferrybank Shopping is expected to take place on June 11.

Speaking on the situation briefly at this month’s public meeting of the Piltown Municipal District, Director of Services for Kilkenny, Ian Gardner said, "We do continue to liaise with Dunnes Stores”

Cathaoirleach of the district, Cllr Pat Nugent, expressed frustration over the ongoing shopping centre controversy, saying, "it’s a pity it has gone to this extent."

On the same morning as the district meeting on Wednesday, a joint meeting between members of the Piltown Municipal District and the Waterford Metropolitan District occurred.

The meeting took place behind closed doors and Ferrybank Shopping Centre was on the agenda.

The meeting marked the first gathering between the neighbouring councils since the recent fallout over Ferrybank Shopping Centre.

In August of last year, planning permission was granted for Dunnes Stores to move into the long vacant shopping centre in Ferrybank.

Neighbouring Waterford City and County Council subsequently decided to take a legal approach against the development and were granted leave to take up judicial review.
