This year's Waterford City Massed Band charity concert was a phenomenal success, much to the delight of the organisers.

The event was organised to raise money for Special Olympics Ireland, Irish Red Cross Waterford branch and 50 Shades of Exceptional.

Waterford News & Star photographer, Joe Evans, was in attendance and captured photos and video clips from the concert, one of which can be viewed below.

In an online post on Waterford Massed Band's facebook page it was noted how the night "never fails to ignite a pride in its musicians utilising their talents to continue to honour and help deserving charities" in Waterford.

Under the Musical Direction of Mark Fitzgerald, Waterford City Massed Band has been performing for almost two decades and in doing so unites the supremely talented musicians from the Barrack Street Concert Band, City of Waterford Brass, The De la Salle Scout Pipe Band and The TF Meagher Fife & Drum, enhanced with a fabulous string and rhythm section.

This years concert which drew a capacity crowd, who were enthralled throughout, also benefited from the vocal accompaniment of Donna Roche and David Flynn, who were the the perfect complement to the charity concert.

"Thanks to every person who bought tickets to support our musical efforts, which will see the Waterford branches of The Red Cross, Special Olympics, and 50 Shades of Exceptional Social Club receive proceeds raised from the concert," said a spokesperson for Waterford Massed Band, on its social media page.

The organisers were also extremely appreciative of the support from the general public and the sponsors of the event each year, highlighting that they all contribute in a large way to the success of the Waterford City Massed Band journey.
