A presentation by Dr Eddy Fitzgerald, on the ecology of the river Suir, will take place in Waterford City on April 30.

The presentation will also feature and introduction by Fr. Pat Fitzgerald, and it will take place at 7pm in the Rufus Halley Hall in the Butlerstown area of the city. 

Mr Fitzgerald worked as a crop specialist with an international company in Europe and North America, and later became Programme Leader in Agriculture at the South East Technological University (SETU) in Waterford.

In addition to teaching, he also carried out research in estuarine and agriculture-environment projects. 

Since retiring Mr Fitzgerald has concentrated on writing and his latest book, 'Living Plants: Their Place in the World', explores the amazing world of plants and is an excellent read and very informative. 

One of those behind the forthcoming talk, commented: "This talk will be well worth hearing as it is soundly based on research and is very relevant in our world today. Well worth attending."
