The dramatic moment snow sets power line alight in Waterford

The weekend’s cold snap got heated in Tramore on Sunday when a power line went on fire.
A video shared on social media by WLR shows the dramatic moment the line, near Priest’s Road, sparked and was set alight.
In a statement to the Waterford News and Star, An ESB Networks spokesperson confirmed the incident was the result of an accumulation of snow.
“ESB Networks can confirm that this incident occurred near Priest's Road in Tramore yesterday (January 5) as a result of the accumulation of snow on our infrastructure, which caused conductor damage, and the subsequent flames.
“ESB Networks crews immediately attended the scene to assess the damage, make the network safe and restore electricity supply. We also liaised closely with the local fire services,” said the spokesperson.
ESB Networks advises the public never to touch fallen wires or damaged electricity network infrastructure/ These as they are live and extremely dangerous.
