'Terrifying ordeal' - Gardaí investigating Ferrybank burglary 

The burglary happened in Ferrybank.

A woman in Ferrybank was subjected to a 'terrifying ordeal' on New Years Day when three men broke into her home while she was asleep.

The burglary occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 1 at Estuary Woods, Ferrybank, Co Waterford. 

A woman was asleep in her bedroom when the men kicked in her bedroom door at around 4.50pm. 

According to Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Deirdre O'Neill, the men wore dark clothing and fled the house upon seeing the woman. 

The woman called Gardaí but "the intruders had left the scene'. 

Garda appeal

Gardaí are now appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the area at the time. Gardaí are asking people if they may have seen 3 males in the area and/or suspicious vehicles. 

Sgt. O'Neill stated: "Any detail may assist the investigation. Of particular interest are any items that may have been discarded specifically a green wallet/purse which was taken from the house. "
