Sympathies from schools of Gilbert and Avuzwa

Flowers laid for Gilbert and Avu.
The schools attended by Gilbert Collins and Avu (Avuzwa) Idris have offered sympathies to the families of the two boys who were tragically killed last week.
Gilbert, who was a student at St. Paul’s Community College in Lisduggan, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, with his friend Avu, a student at De La Salle College, later dying in hospital from the injuries that he suffered in the crash. Sympathies were offered to the family and friends of Gilbert by St. Paul’s Community College.
“Our deepest sympathy to Gilbert’s family, Mam, Dad, brothers and sister. Especially to Albert, our 1st year student. Gilbert was one of our most vivacious and energetic students, who was known to all. A word and a smile for everyone as he did laps around our school. We will miss him greatly. Sleep peacefully Gilbert, from all in St. Paul’s.”
De La Salle College Principal Mick Walsh offered condolences to Avuza and his family.
“Avuza was a sixth-year student who had just completed his Leaving Certificate examinations. He will be greatly missed by his teachers and staff in the college and his numerous friends who knew him. We have been in contact with his parents and are aware of their request that we all have an understanding of their need for privacy at this difficult time.”
“Offers of support have been pouring in and are greatly appreciated. Our school has implemented our Critical Incident Management Plan. Psychologists from the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) have been supporting and advising as we support members of our school community through this difficult time. The college has opened with many teachers making themselves available to help students/parents deal with this tragic event. We would ask you to respect our privacy at this time. May he rest in peace. Thank you.”
