Garda have submitted a statement regarding an alleged assault on a Waterford bus.

An Garda Síochána have issued a statement regarding an alleged assault that took place on a Waterford bus. 

In a recent episode of RTÉ's Crimecall, Garda Greg Freegrove played CCTV footage of a man who allegedly committed assault on a 360 bus travelling from Waterford to Tramore. 

The alleged incident occurred on October 16, 2024. 

Gardaí are appealing for information in elation to the incident. In their comment to Waterford News and Star, a Garda spokesperson urged caution over potential misinformation and wrongful identification of the suspect.

The comment reads: "An Garda Siochána is aware of content on social media that purports to identify the suspect, however, nothing in that content has been substantiated at this time.

"An Garda Síochána is aware of the propensity for misinformation and disinformation to circulate online and urges the public to independently verify any information they are reading on social media or messaging apps.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.’
