County Waterford has been issued with a status yellow weather warning ahead of the weekend. 

In a notice issued to Waterford News & Star, the local authority relayed a notice from Met Eireann which said it's expected Storm Ashley will bring strong and gusty southerly winds, coupled with high tides.

The warning indicated that possible impacts of the storm could be coastal flooding, large coastal waves, fallen trees and branches while driving and cycling conditions might also be difficult with road users encouraged to be wary of debris and loose objects.

The warning will be valid from 10am on Sunday, October 20 until midnight on Monday, October 21.
