Slight drop in adults in Waterford homeless but the county remains the regional highest

There was a slight drop in the number of adults homeless in Waterford last month.
According to the Monthly Homelessness Report published by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, 114 adults were in emergency accommodation in March.
That is a reduction of six people on the February figure of 120, which was the highest since February 2018.
The figures first dropped below 100 in September 2019 and remained so until August 2024.
Since then, the number of adults in emergency accommodation in Waterford has remained higher than 100.
South-East region, of which Waterford is part, saw 324 adults in emergency accommodation last month.
Of those, 240 were single adults, 207 men and 117 women.
In the South-East, 253 were Irish, 45 were UK or EEA, and 26 were listed as non-EEA.
The highest age group was the 25-44 age group at 183 adults, followed by the 45-64 age group at 89 people.
The lowest age group was the 65+ group on 10, followed by the 18-24 on 42.
Waterford had the highest number of people in emergency accommodation in the region, followed by Tipperary on 73 and Wexford on 53.
Carlow had the lowest on 40, followed by Kilkenny on 44.
There were 65 families in emergency accommodation in the region in March.
That included 107 children.
Nationally, 10,743 adults and 4675 children were in emergency accommodation in March.
The Monthly Homelessness Report is snapshot data, which means figures are collected at a particular time of the month.
Last month's figures were counted between March 24 and 30.
