Significant new roadwork updates for Piltown District

Consultants have been appointed for both the road improvement works planned for the Abbey Road and Belmont Road upgrades, as well as the N29 Port Road upgrade.
The latest updates on the Local Council's Roadworks Programme were shared at the Piltown Municipal District meeting this week.
Area Engineer John Tennyson said a speed ramp at Mullinavat GAA is set to be installed and that a public consultation meeting is to take place in mid-February regarding the Listerlin Improvement design. Under the Active Travel scheme, the Mill Road footpath development has also progressed with an ecologist having been procured for surveying works.
Climate action works on the Mullinavat Bridge and on the LS7472 have been completed, the Area Engineer updated, and consultants have been appointed for both the road improvement works planned for the Abbey Road and Belmont Road upgrades, as well as the N29 Port Road upgrade.
Mr Tennyson told the councillors that the council had written to the Garda National Roads Policing Bureau regarding the installation of a new static speed camera to be located at the Ballinclare Junction between Luffany and Glenmore as part of the National Safety Camera Project strategy.
The council engineer said that the effectiveness of the new N25 camera would be taken into account prior to the selection of additional such cameras.
