SETU receive over €5.5 million for infrastructure upgrades and equipment

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Patrick O’Donovan TD has announced that SETU is to receive €5,571,669 for research equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
A total of €80 million in capital funding has been allocated for higher education institutions across the country under the Higher Education Research Equipment Grant.
SETU has received €3,342,440 from the Devolved Capital Grant and a grant of €2,229,229 from the Higher Education Research Grant.
Speaking today, Minister O’Donovan said: “I am very pleased to allocate €80 million to our college campuses across the country through these two grants.
“The Higher Education Research Equipment Grant will not only allow universities to upgrade research equipment but also purchase new or additional research equipment.
“The Devolved Capital Grant will allow universities to invest in minor capital works programmes, refurbishment and renewal of equipment and will ensure their facilities remain up-to-date, fit for purpose and respond to climate objectives.”
Minister O’Donovan added: “Our higher education institutions face substantial challenges in meeting climate targets and this grant will support them in making energy efficiency and decarbonisation upgrades.”
